From the President of the Board of Directors…Joe Ward

When I reflect on the status of Bon Air, I first look back to when I joined the Board. Back then, cell phones were new. Bon Air did not have email or a web site. Your driver was a part of your set of woods. It was not a toaster on a stick. Rescue clubs were used to get your ball out of the pond. Technology has rapidly changed our world over the past eight years and it will continue to change it in the future. As a Club we too will also have to adapt to these changes. During this past year 77 new members joined Bon Air, which is 20% of our

membership. About half of the new members were a result of increasing our membership cap to 375. The rest came as a result of attrition. Even though our membership has increased there was negligible impact on playability. I think it is important as we look to the future that each member recognize that as a Club we have a very diverse membership and yet each member is an integral part of the family that we call Bon Air, even though they do not play in your group. Though we are a large family of 375 golf and 135 swim members we are in this together as a big family. And we all try to utilize this facility for enjoyment, relaxation and exercise. My wish for all of The Bon Air Family in 2007 is each one of us enjoy the company of an unknown member at Bon Air either on the course or in the Club House. You will appreciate how much we share in common - The Love of the Game, The Enjoyment of our great course, setting and facilities.

As I reported last month the work on the irrigation system and green #10 continues, the unusually wet period we experienced did have an impact on progress. However, with mild December weather we are making progress. The irrigation system will be in place on 14 holes prior to Christmas, with work continuing and the expectation that all pipe will be in place by mid January, let’s hope our snow arrives the second half of January!

The rebuilding of hole #10 is also moving along. Currently, the final sub-grade has been approved, the drainage system has been installed. The next step will be the installation of a 4” stone layer followed by a 12” layer of top soil and then placement of sod. Again, with the cooperation of mother nature we hope to complete this work by mid-January! Below are pictures of the work in progress on hole #10…….

I want to thank all of the members who came to the GolfShop for the annual Holiday Balloon sale. We had over 100 people stop out to say hello and take advantage of the special discounts that were available. Also enjoyed were the snacks and beverages served. We also offered free gift wrapping for all purchases. Now is the time to spend any GolfShop credit earned during the 2006 golf season. Remember, all 2006 credit must be used by December 31, 2006.

As we start planning for the 2007 season please let us know if there is specific merchandise that you would like to see in the GolfShop or share thoughts regarding how we can better meet your golfing needs in 2007.

From all the staff in the GolfShop we wish you Happy Holidays.
